Presentation This course will center on the English needed to describe and discuss the multiple aspects of the multinational business environment.


Teaching Objectives 1. To learn vocabulary used in international business. 2. To learn to discuss globalization in a professional manner. 3. To develop confidence and accuracy in discussing international business.


Format
One weekly meeting of 3 hours. Maximum number of students 25


Course Content This course will cover the English of international business from a multidisciplinary viewpoint. Topics include: international trade theory, global vs multidomestic enterprises, patterns of internationalization, international trade theories, governmental influences on trade, regional economic integration (NAFTA, MERCOSUR, etc), FDI, forex, PPP; international JVs, international marketing, multinational accounting and tax systems, etc..


Teaching Methods
The teacher will use the first three sessions to present international business English content. The following three sessions will be divided between teacher and student short presentations. The final session will be dedicated to the students' final project.


Individual and Group Work Students will present three short reports on international business topics of their choice, as well as a final project basedon an article in English taken from HEC's EBSCO scholarly journal data base.


Evaluation The final grade is based on the average of the grades received for the group and for the individual. The group grade has a weight of 40% ; the individual grade, 60%.


Recommended Level This course is beneficial for students who need to discuss international business issues in English. Recommended for fluent speakers who have little or no background in the above-mentioned topics.
