Presentation
Communication is a performance. It has an aesthetic and a rhythm. Just
as music is orchestrated from a starting point to a finishing point, speech
and body language are composed in advance of their realisation. A sentence
is composed before spoken. A gesture is choreographed in the mind before
it is made. The aim of this course is to alert students to the subtleties
of interpreting ideas and subsequently expressing them so as to enhance
their interpretative and communicative skills.
Teaching objectives
To create an understanding of the various implications of speech and gestures
in diverse contexts. To develop skill and confidence in expression of
specific ideas in specific contexts. To teach the students how to identify
the volatility of text in context and how to manipulate this in order
to convey a desired meaning.

1 meeting weekly of 3 hours during weeks.
